We are proud to announce that SEPAR International has achieved its second consecutive year of certification as a Carbon Neutral Business in partnership with Carbon Neutral Britain.
This continued milestone reflects SEPAR International’s long-term commitment to sustainability and responsible business practices, ensuring that our global security operations are conducted with respect for both people and the planet.
Why This Matters
At SEPAR, we recognise that the nature of our work often requires global mobility and complex logistical support. By continuing our partnership with Carbon Neutral Britain, we are taking sustained and measurable action to manage and offset our environmental impact.
Our recertification confirms that our organisational emissions have once again been independently measured and fully offset through verified, AAA-rated climate projects delivering long-term environmental and community benefits.
Measurable Emissions Reductions
In addition to offsetting, we have achieved measurable reductions within our own operations. Our latest Carbon Emissions Report shows that business travel emissions, our largest impact area, have reduced by 51% year-on-year, from 83.78 tCO₂e to 40.74 tCO₂e. Staff commuting emissions have also fallen by 35%, from 6.57 tCO₂e to 4.29 tCO₂e. Total organisational emissions for 2025 were 70.10 tCO₂e, demonstrating clear progress in addressing our most significant emission drivers.
Supporting Climate Action and Sustainable Development Globally
Through Carbon Neutral Britain’s Climate Fund™ portfolio, SEPAR contributes to carefully selected projects aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
This year, we are proud to support the following verified initiatives:
Household Solar Lighting – Zambia
This project delivers solar lighting devices to families across Zambia who lack access to electricity. By replacing kerosene lamps and inefficient solid-fuel lighting, the project avoids harmful household emissions while providing a clean, safe, and affordable alternative.
Since its inception in 2021, over 600,000 solar lights have been distributed, avoiding more than 10,000 tonnes of CO₂e that would otherwise have been generated through kerosene combustion.
Beyond emissions reductions, the project plays a pivotal role in:
- Reducing household fuel costs for economically disadvantaged families
- Improving indoor air quality and reducing health risks
- Extending safe study hours for children through school and community-centre distribution channels
- Supporting poverty alleviation through access to affordable clean energy
By removing affordability barriers through carbon finance, the initiative enables widespread adoption of clean technology and helps break the cycle of energy poverty.
Methane Capture and Power Generation – Netherlands
This project is one of Europe’s leading verified agricultural offsetting initiatives, operating across 30 dairy and agro-pig farms in the Netherlands.
The project captures methane emissions from livestock manure through sealed biogas systems, preventing the release of this potent greenhouse gas, which is approximately 28 times more powerful than CO₂ in terms of heat retention. Methane is instead used to generate renewable electricity, which is fed directly into the Dutch national grid, displacing fossil fuel-based power generation.
This fully circular system:
- Prevents large-scale methane emissions
- Produces green electricity
- Utilises residual heat from the process
- Converts digestate into natural fertiliser, replacing artificial chemical alternatives
- Supports compliance with agricultural nitrogen regulations
By connecting livestock farming, arable production, food industry by-products, and renewable energy generation in a closed-loop system, the project demonstrates how environmental responsibility and commercial sustainability can operate together.
Our Ongoing Commitment
Achieving a second year of carbon neutrality demonstrates that sustainability is not a one-off initiative, but an embedded part of how we operate.
Offsetting remains one element of our broader environmental strategy. SEPAR International continues to review and improve how we reduce emissions at source, from smarter travel planning and operational efficiencies to responsible procurement and supplier engagement.
We are proud to contribute to high-quality, independently validated climate solutions and remain committed to maintaining carbon neutral certification in the years ahead.
We invite our partners, clients, and peers to join us in taking meaningful climate action.
